Robert Yff
Robert Yff, 77, a longtime Norwalk, Conn., resident, formerly of Montclair, died on Sunday, Oct. 19, of injuries sustained from a fall at his summer home on Fire Island.
Visiting will be held today, Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, Conn. A memorial service will be held at a later date on Fire Island.
Mr. Yff was born in Venezuela to Dutch parents, the late Johannes Yff and Sophia Magdalena Korlaar Yff. He spent his childhood in Montclair, graduated from Montclair High School in 1949, and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. in industrial engineering. Mr. Yff was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He held positions at GV Controls, RCA, Markite, and eventually went on to the presidency at Ray Proof Corp. In 1989, he founded Panashield Inc., a world leader in design, construction and certification of test facilities for electromagnetic compatibility. He loved Fire Island, surfcasting and boating on the Great South Bay.
Mr. Yff was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Trudy Yff. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret "Peggy" Girard Yff; daughter, Pamela Jayakar and her husband Harshad, daughter, Linda Atwood and her husband Tom, a brother, Joost Yff; and five grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, Neil, Derek and Ashley.
