He is survived by his wife of many years, Catherine Byrd Taylor; a daughter, Janet Louise Hawkins; a granddaughter, Patricia R. Warrick and husband Edward; a grandson, Gregory A. Hawkins and wife Titania; and great-grandchildren, Edward Jr., Jasmine and Tiffany.

A funeral service was held on Oct. 10, in Union Baptist Church, Montclair.
