Inviting Montclair residents to vote for McCain-Palin
(by JOHN C. KERR JR. - October 16, 2008)
These are very difficult times for we Montclair residents and fellow citizens around the country. Yet, we should not lose sight of the fact that we are faced with a very fateful presidential election on Nov. 4. We do not want to compound our present difficulties with a bad choice.
On the one hand, we can choose Sen. Barack Obama, who has very little experience in the U.S. Senate, let alone running a large organization like the federal government. He announced that he will enact (with the help of Democratic majorities in the Senate and House) $1 trillion in tax and spending increases (including letting the Bush tax cuts expire, increasing the capital gains and Social Security payroll taxes, etc.); and open borders for illegal immigrants.
Moreover, he has no experience in military affairs or fighting the war on terror. And he constantly changes his mind on drilling for oil. Finally, he has authored legislation to divert 1/7 of U.S. Gross National Product to the U.N. to fight global poverty. In my view, all of the above will really throw the U.S. economy into a tailspin.
On the other hand, we can choose Sen. John McCain who will fight the war on terror; freeze federal expenditures and eliminate the detestable earmarks; and will work actively to reverse the current decline in the U.S. economy with a variety of proposals and changing many of the people currently running the federal government.
On Nov. 4, I plan to vote for the McCain–Palin ticket and I invite other Montclair residents to join me.
