Mr. Del Vecchio was born in Montclair and graduated from Montclair High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned home, he worked for the Montclair and Upper Montclair Post Office, retiring after 37 years. After retirement from the Post Office, he worked for Inmont Corp. in Clifton. Retiring from Inmont, Mr. Del Vecchio moved to Cape May and began a career in real estate. He and his wife moved to San Diego, Calif., in June 2008.

Mr. Del Vecchio volunteered in many organizations and churches and would lend a hand to all.

Mr. Del Vecchio was predeceased by his wife, Lucy Sordill. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Florence; children, Michelle (Bill) Medley, Michael (Diane) Del Vecchio, and Lurette (David) Linn; Florence’s children, Joseph (Debbie) Wagner, and Cathy (Bob) Choplin; sisters, Octavia Durning, and Angie Piscutti; and four grandchildren, Christine and Elizabeth Del Vecchio, and Cara and Kerry Choplin.
