Ross Martindale
Ross Martindale, 94, died on Friday, Sept. 19.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m., in the Chebeague United Methodist Church, with a reception at the Parish House.
Mr. Martindale was born in Glen Ridge, graduated from Glen Ridge High School, and attended Dartmouth College, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and graduated in 1936. He lived in Montclair for 40 years, from 1945 to 1987.
He was employed by the National Broadcasting Co. as a sound effects technician, where he worked in both radio and television for 40 years. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Yarmouth, Maine, where they could spend more time at their summer home on Chebeague Island.
Mr. Martindale was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Beach Martindale; and his son, Ross Martindale Jr. He is survived by his son Fred and wife Donna of Savannah, Ga.; granddaughter, Lisa Brown and husband Jason of West Caldwell; grandsons, Brian Martindale and wife Brianne of Burlington, N.C., Chris Martindale of Charleston, W.Va., Scott Martindale and wife Marcie of South Charleston, W. Va.; great-grandson, Steven Martindale; and great-granddaughters, Hilary Martindale and Emily Brown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Chebeague Island Library Endowment Fund, 247 South Road, Chebeague Island, ME 04017.
