Joseph A. DiGeronimo
Joseph A. DiGeronimo, 93, of Montclair, died on Friday, Sept. 19, at his home. He was a lifelong Montclair resident.
Mr. DiGeronimo was the co-owner of Pine Shell Station in Montclair for 20 years, and then became the head custodian for Edgemont Elementary School in the Montclair Public School system. He then worked in Post Office Plus, a family-owned business in Montclair for six years.
Mr. DiGeronimo was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Miscia, Rachel Rubino, Sophie Sgroi, and Eleanor Bilotta; and his brothers Joseph and Benito DiGeronimo. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pearl (née Zingali); his children, MaryAnn Kerr, Janet Bender, and Steven DiGeronimo; his sisters, Mildred Russo, Virginia Cosgrove, Gloria Lehmann, Mercedes Zichelli, Dolores Arminio, Marianne Karnas; his brothers, Daniel and Vincent DiGeronimo; his grandchildren, Brenda Rodrigues, Dr. Andrea Kerr, Heather Kerr, Laurie Harris, Christine Bender and Thomas Bender Jr.; and his great-grandchildren, Russell, Sasha, Cody, Tyler, Rachel and Austyn.
A funeral Mass was held on Sept. 23, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Montclair. Interment was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Montclair Volunteer Ambulance Unit (M.V.A.U.), 95 Walnut St., Montclair, NJ 07042, or to Grace Healthcare, 105 Fieldcrest Ave., Edison, NJ 08837, would be appreciated.
