Edith B. Dishal
Edith B. Dishal, 82, died on Friday, Sept. 12.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m., in The Chapel at Cedar Crest Village, 1 Cedar Crest Drive, Pompton Plains.
Mrs. Dishal was born and raised in LaGrange, Ill. She graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., and briefly taught first grade in the Chicago public school system before moving to Montclair in 1958 with her husband, the late William W.P. Jochem. She served as president of the League of Women Voters of Montclair, volunteered at an AIDS outreach shelter in Newark, was a hospice services volunteer, and was a member of the Packanack Community Church.
Mrs. Dishal was predeceased by her son, John G. Jochem. She is survived by her companion, Albert Tomea; her son, Christopher W. Jochem; her daughter, Janet E. Jochem; her sister, Virginia Swett of Tucson, Ariz.; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Julie, Kate and Jamie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of N.J. or The Seeing Eye in Morristown.
