As you know, losing a child is one of the most heartbreaking and devastating events in a parent’s life. And, losing that child in an act of violence has been incredibly difficult for me to come to grips with, not to mention the toll it’s taken on my daughter’s children, Essence and Noah.

Yet, God – in his infinite wisdom – sent a group of gifted and compassionate people to strengthen us. Because of their assistance, the shattered pieces of our lives are slowly being put back together. The abundant outpouring of love, heartfelt sympathy, generous giving of monies and other support services, to meet the needs for myself and my grandchildren is truly holding us up as we miraculously journey on the road to healing.

Words cannot express my gratitude for each community member’s generous care, support and prayers on behalf of me and my grandchildren. Christ Church, Dr. David Ireland and the Montclair community have been my rock during this time. Essence and Noah know for sure that they are loved, not just by their mother, not just by me and other family members, but by an entire community of people who have been lovingly and strategically appointed by God to ensure that they live the best lives possible.
