Coach needs to make basketball program stronger
(by FRANK TAYLOR - September 04, 2008)
This letter is in response to a letter David Cummings wrote dated July 24. In the letter, he just highlighted himself. Not to get off the subject, but until he has all the facts about Coach Major Jennings, he need not write because it makes them both look bad. If everything was done correct, he would have no reason to write at all. I am writing from the information obtained from Mike Kinney from The Star-Ledger newspaper. All the things that he is talking about in his letter, saying that Coach Jennings is a clone of legendary Coach Bob Lester means nothing today. The fact that he played under Coach Lester in his glory years is not the topic of this conversation.
What stands true is what colleges has Coach Jennings gotten any of his players in over the past 15 years. Being a coach is a yearlong commitment. He stated that I have no idea what it takes to be a coach in the Montclair community. I do have a great idea what it takes to be a coach; it means helping players get into college, teaching and coaching the game, and having a basketball program, not just a team.
Winning games is fine; however the real victory is won when we see some of the Mounties players go to the next level. Let’s see what can be done to make this happen. We can speculate but it will take Coach Jennings to change these things around. The main objective is to make the team stronger.

Does Mr. Taylor have a job? The reason I ask is because I've been following this issue, and it seems to me that Mr. Taylor is "obsessed" with Coach Jennings. There is a lot going in the world and this guy needs to move on because everyone else has. |
